Sedation
Dental Phobia affects a large part of the general population and it is one of the most common reasons why people don’t visit the Dentist. This in turn leads to poor dental health and neglect.
Conscious Sedation
Is a technique where an anti-anxiety drug is administered through Intra-Venous route. These drugs reduce your anxiety and apprehension which in turn makes you comfortable & relaxed in a dental chair. This page answers the most common questions regarding conscious sedation.
What does it feel like?
It feels like you are very relaxed and comfortable. It has been suggested that IV sedation involves being put to sleep, In reality, you remain conscious during IV sedation. You will also be able to understand and respond to requests from your dentist. . Time will appear to pass very quickly and you will not recall much, or perhaps even nothing at all, of what happened. So it may, indeed, appear as if you were “asleep” during the procedure.
ADVANTAGES
HAVE SEVERE DENTAL ANXIETY?
Then sedation is for you as it will perfectly relax you in the dental chair, as never before.
HAVE NEEDLE PHOBIA?
Sedation will relax you to a point that needles will not bother you.
ARE YOU A GAGGER ?
Gaggers can relax too ! Sedation reduces the gag reflex – people receiving IV sedation rarely experience difficulty with gagging.
SAFETY?
Sedation has limited contraindications so is safe for almost everyone.
